ECT/Mentor Induction Conferences September 2021

To join the Induction conferences all ECTs and Mentors must register with Eventbrite - this is how your engagement with the programme will be tracked.

If you are unable to attend the events "live" you must still register on Eventbrite as this will give you access to the recording of the session.

ECTs

There are two parts to the Induction conference:

Part A- run by UCL: IOE

ECT- 14th September 3:30pm-4:30pm

Pre-conference (30 mins): ECTs are directed to learn about:

  • Their induction entitlement
  • How our programme works
  • How to navigate UCLeXtend

Please review the UCLeXtend learning platform, in particular the relevant parts of the programme handbook. If you do not yet have access to the platform, please carry out these activities after the conference.

Outline:

  • Features of the UCL programme and of UCLeXtend learning platform
  • How the Teachers’ Standards relate to the modules
  • How to be a successful ECT
  • Developing a productive professional relationship with your mentor

  • How the clusters will work for Training and Online Learning Community sessions
  • Who are the facilitators
  • Communicating with ECTs about their training and OLCs
  • Developing an effective relationship with the DP – staying in touch
  • What next?

  • What the ECF is about
  • How our programme (including our learning platform) is structured
  • Our mentoring approach in Year 1

Please review the UCLeXtend learning platform, in particular the programme handbook. You should receive your log-in details direct from UCL in the next few days, but if you do not have access to the platform, please carry out these activities after the conference.

  • Our programme structure
  • Staying engaged and being on track
  • Running a mentor meeting
  • ONSIDE mentoring
  • What mentor training involves
