Specialist NPQs

The 3 new Specialist NPQs designed to support leaders and aspiring leaders whishing to develop in specialist areas of teaching are:

  • Leading Teacher Development (NPQ LTD): for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading the development of other teachers in their school
  • Leading Teaching (NPQ LT): for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase
  • Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQ LBC): for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading behaviour and/or supporting pupil wellbeing in their school

National Professional Qualification for Leading Teacher Development:

This course is designed for teachers and school leaders who are already supporting, or who aspire to support, the training and development of others, including Early Career Teachers.

Cost: Free for all schools

Full scholarship funding, with no cost to the participant, for the NPQ in Leading Teacher Development is available to all teachers who meet the following criteria:

  • have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading the development of other teachers in their school
  • work in a state-funded school in England

National Professional Qualification for Leading Teaching:

This course is designed to develop teachers and subject leads, or those responsible for improving teaching practice in a subject or phase.

Cost: £885 or free

Full scholarship funding, with no cost to the participant, for the NPQ in Leading Teaching is available to all teachers who meet the following criteria:

  • have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase
  • work in a state-funded school in England that is within the top 30th percentile in relation to pupils on pupil premium as of the end of the previous academic year

This course is designed to develop teachers and leaders who have responsibility for leading behaviour and culture, or who aspire to do so in their future career.

The Specialist NPQs and the NPQSLwill be delivered through the North East London Teaching School Hub (NELTSH)  in conjunction with UCL IOE.

 

The NPQH and NPQEL will be delivered through the North East London Teaching School Hub (NELTSH) in conjunction with UCL IOE and the East London Teaching School Hub (ELTSH).


Applying for the NPQs

As soon as we have information on the application window for the next cohort for the new National Professional Qualifications we will add the details here.

To apply for the NPQs you need to complete both steps below:

1) Complete this NPQ Expression of interest form to register your interest with the North East London Teaching School Hub who will be your local provider.  

To complete the form, you will need the following information:

·         Teacher Registration Number (TRN)
·         Name as recorded by the Teacher Regulation Agency (TRA)
·         Choice of NPQ 
·         Choice of Lead Provider: UCL Institute of Education

Once registration is complete the DFE will send the details to us and UCL.

2) Once you have completed the form, you need to also register with the DFE using this link: https://register-national-professional-qualifications.education.gov.uk/

Please select UCL Institute of Education as your chosen provider.

Once you have completed both steps of the application, we will be in touch with more information about the launch of the NPQs and training dates for your local Cluster in the Autumn Term.
